Creighton's Luke Haakenson is coming on fast, but beating UNO will require high intensity

Lil bit of controversy as Jays score late when mavs had a man down but no one stopped play. Announcers not too happy at that Ricky goal ;)

Yeah, I wonder why the ref didn't stop play on that goal. But it seems right to me that our players kept playing until the whistle sounds, right?
On the other hand, soccer players are guilty of feigning injury all the time. If the refs quickly stopped play every time a player acted out an injury, the games would take twice as long. The Omaha coach has that team playing really well. It seemed like this was one of the few times an opponent out-possessed us for the game.

The announcer, Owen Goober or something like that, called it "horrible sportsmanship" and complained that UNO was playing 11 men against 12 all night (the production values--announcers, camerawork, onscreen graphics--were kind of what you could expect, I guess, from a lower tier school; I especially enjoyed it when Owen told us Creighton would pick up three points for the win, apparently confusing this match for a World Cup qualifier).

So, what are the ethics there when you possess the ball a few yards in front of an opponent's net and one of their guys slips and stays down? Is it play on, or do you hit pause while they get help to the guy? Mims sure seemed pissed at the Jays bench.

I watched and it was entertaining. If the kid announcer hadn't been hooting about it, I don't think I even would've noticed they had a player down. Interestingly, after the trainer came out to look at the injured guy, he got up and walked off the field. Perhaps the UNO player was exhibiting a bit of gamesmanship himself trying to get play stopped?

We had the ball in the offensive end ahead of their down man(who walked off on his own by the way), so I don't see stopping play, and obviously neither did the ref.

I thought the Jays controlled the game for the most part, and looked to be the more skilled team.

Not as chippy as last year so that was good too. All in all a solid win.

The UNO player that was down also was lying down in our box a few minutes earlier. After Kluver kicked the ball down the field, he got up and ran to mid field. When we had possession and were pressing, he laid down again. His ailments weren't convincing. He wasn't limping.

Overall, good game. We controlled possession most of the time with the exceptions of the last 10 minutes after we scored.
