Yesterday's game was the first time I really felt encouraged by this team. It seemed equal parts excellent offense from Creighton and dud performance by Xavier. Xavier has been a nemesis in soccer, yet the Jays made them look average last night. The Jays were dominant in possession. The defense was stout. Ricky is hitting his stride at the perfect time. The newer and younger players are contributing. Everything is clicking.

The Jays are still in decent shape for the postseason. The three losses to Butler, Virginia Tech and Stanford aren't resume killers. Seton Hall was a fluke loss because of the red card ejection.

I have no idea which Providence team will show up next week - the team that started the season flat or the recent team that appears to be getting stronger. If we can take care of the Friars, we have two winnable games against Marquette (road) and DePaul before that tough closer against Georgetown. The Jays could still get to eleven wins (or twelve) if they just play to their potential.

Go Jays!
