you can bank on it.

But Mac doesn't "Trust" anyone of those guys, but Hegner. How can you be so Certain?

PG 6-3
SG 6-3 Foster
SF 6-3/185 Thomas
PF 6-7/190 Bowen
C 6-10 Hegner
No one sees a problem here? Bowen at the 4 gives up 2 to 3 inches in height and 30 to 40 lbs against most teams 4's.

versus

PG 6-3
SG 6-3 or 6-4 or 6-5
SF 6-7 Bowen or 6-3 Thomas
PF 6-9 Krampelj or 6-8/9 Harrell or 6-10 Hegner
C 6-10 Hegner or 6-10 Suarez

PG - 6-0
SG - 6-1
SF - 6-5
PF - 6-8
C - 6-7

Circa 2014... Anyone see a problem there?

Anyone who thinks he doesn't "Trust" Thomas has no idea what is going on with Mac. Thomas also has the wingspan of a 6-8 or bigger forward, which is where our lack of size has really hurt us in the past.

FWIW, we'll have a rotation in the front court, and Hegner was a better in the post defender than Patton last year (who was better on the weakside as someone who helped on D). That includes rotations at the 5 and the 4 even with Tugs.

Biggest question for next year isn't how tall we are, but how good Joseph or Mintz are at PG

If memory serves me the 2014 team was an exceptional shooting and highly experienced team, who had played together for 4 years, and even they didn't win a championship (RS or Conf Tourney). This seasons team will not be that experienced nor having the luxury of extended PT together - Big difference ChicagoJay...or doesn't experience count in your book? ;)

it does, but the point is that we are much longer and taller than that team and we'll match up fine with what we see in the BE and in our schedule.

Biggest question is still PG. Other than that we'll roll with a deep and athletic bunch for all 5 positions.

hi, first post here.

If Mac runs with Hegner/Bowen/Thomas/Foster/whoever at PG as the starters, don't expect them to play for more than 15 minutes a game together. Hegner doesn't have the strength to bang down low with other BE frontcourts for extended periods of time. The primary benefit of having Hegner start at the 5 is on offense, not on defense. He will stretch the floor with his outside shot and create driving lanes for the 2-4 players. These players should be ready and willing to pass up the ball on the way to the basket as the other team's defense will collapse and leave at least one person open.

On defense, that lineup will be long. I believe the defense will have to play the GSW style defense by disrupting passing lanes and denial of entry passes into the post with constant switches. This is accomplished with speed and length. Hegner won't be a very good anchor on that defense and the 3's and 4's have to crash the glass on every shot.

Personally, I would prefer a stronger rebounder starting at the 5 position over Hegner. Have Suarez, Krampelj and our All-American candidate, Sam Dunkum, be the Patton/Hanson of last year (as far as minutes go), and bring Hegner off the bench to sub at the 4 and occasional 5. That is how my armchair coaching sees it.

Because if Bowen ends up a Jay, there is little doubt in my mind that a PG, Foster, Thomas and Bowen are starters. Really, with this Creighton roster, even in its ideal form - the Jays are going to struggle to rebound no matter what. So, might as well compensate for that by playing the most talented/athletic line-up Coach Mac can put out there. It's not like we have Dennis Rodman and Bill Russell sitting on the bench sacrificing minutes so Bowen or Thomas can start.

Thomas, Foster and Bowen would all be starters. We can all agree on that.

If so please warn your fellow Bluejay fans. They need to know the defensive password: Matador. If they start together, along with a PG and Hegner, then offensively we may be a terror, but defensively we will be porous.

Hold on. You're worried about defense, but are trying to bench the Big East's co-defensive player of the year. I fail to follow that logic.
