Creighton's elite camp is this weekend, right? If so, anyone know if Illikainen is making the Nebraska (and I guess CU) trip in connection with said camp?

Saw that the Banter guys had RTed a couple of elite camp-related tweets this morning (Jack Beach (San Diego area guard) and Nick Billingsley (former OCHS, now Juco player)). Now that we're in the Big East, we'll almost certainly never have another camp haul like 2012, but it would be nice to see a couple of CU targets or CU interests make the trip most years.

- I’m sensing Alex Illikainen is maybe leaning towards Creighton. He’s already taken several unofficial visits there. He loves the Gophers, too. It’s tough to say. It will come down to whether or not he likes a small campus like Creighton or a big one like the U.

- Alex Illikainen spoke highly of both Minnesota and Creighton. I think it’s very close. It will come down to whether or not he prefers Creighton as a smaller private college, or Minnesota, a massive university. Alex also talks frequently with Providence, Cal, and Nebraska. One thing I like about Alex is that he’s one of the few players in AAU who seems to block out.

Another recent article.

Illikainen is equally familiar with the Cornhuskers’ state rival, Creighton. He has taken “probably three or four” visits there, and has a friend attending Creighton. Greg McDermott and assistant Darian DeVries are pursuing the four-star hard, and it’s paying off. Most experts believe that Creighton and Minnesota are in the lead for Illikainen.

“(Minnesota and Creighton) are totally opposite, pretty much. I just have to figure out what I want,” he says. “Do I want the small school like Creighton? I mean, they still have a big fanbase for basketball. You come to Minnesota, and you got 55,000 kids. Creighton has 4,000.”

Let's hope Alex has a great time at camp and then commits. Alex would be a great start to the 2015 class. Go Jays!

He would be a perfect start to this class. I can't imagine how effective and successful he could be in our offense. The fit is just too perfect all around

Alex is going to transfer to a prep school out east for his senior year of HS: http://www.d1circuit.com/news_article/s ... id=1211873

I hope he doesn't fall in love with the east coast....

Mac and Sellers have pretty good ties to Brewster Academy. Only thing is he may blow up out there and many more may start going after.

Maybe he'll decides he likes it just enough to visit a few times a year.

Illikainen won't be visiting us anytime soon. I heard through the grapevine that CU is choosing not to recruit him anymore. I checked his offers.. I sure hope he doesn’t end up wearing a red and white uniform.
