The 6-9 Hanson was a dominant inside player, averaging 17.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 2.3 assists this season and shooting 52 percent from the field. He missed six games with a stress fracture but returned for the state “AA” tourney to help the Governors to a third-place finish.

He averaged 13 points and six rebounds in the state tourney while playing only 16 minutes a game. He’s already No. 3 in career rebounds (450) in school history and No. 7 in scoring (862) with one year left.

“Zach’s rebounding and shot-blocking ability are what make him special, because he can dominate a game on ends of the floor,” said Pierre coach Terry Becker. “His abilities make everything easier for his teammates, which makes him a special player.”

So is Zach still in the mix or has that ship sailed?

I doubt it with Hegner but who knows. I'm thinking we are going to go after an athletic wing hard like Hassan Martin for the last scholie.

I don't see why not. Hanson would probably play more of a center position in the MVC and I think we need another body there. I don't see Hegner playing center.

Ryan James ‏@RyanJamesMN
6-ft-9 Zach Hanson of Pierre has such great hands and feet. High major player no doubt.

He scored 24 and 23 in a couple AAU games this weekend in St Cloud, MN

James also lists us as having interest in another SoDak player...Skyler Flatten.

---Clark/Willow Lake’s Skyler Flatten was another player who created matchup problems for any team he faced. The 6-foot-5 junior averaged 23.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks per game for head coach Jerome Nesheim’s team.

“Skyler is one of the most athletic basketball players in the state. He has very good quickness and jumping ability to get to the rim to score, plus he has tremendous range,” Nesheim said. “His length and athleticism makes him a matchup problem for most teams. His offseason work ethic has made him the player he is today. He really works hard at making his weaknesses into strengths. He has such an upside to him. He is only going to get bigger and get better.”
