2016 SG Amir Coffey

Sounds like we just offered 6'4 SG Amir Coffey from Minnesota a scholarship. His other offer is currently from Iowa State.

Obviously the kid would like an offer from Minnesota. I still wouldn't read too much into that interview however, given that it is a Minnesota station feeding him questions about how much he'd like to be a Gopher.

Bump with article from the wrong thread (I stopped checking on page 6 but thanks Gitmo for finding it)

Again, I think that looking at this kid as a combo guard is quite interesting.

Also, I saw this tweet today with video...

This got lost in the shuffle. Coffey tore his ACL about two weeks ago ending his junior season. He had surgery this Tuesday. Wonder how this will affect our interest and other teams interest in him.

He is a top 50 recruit, as such CU interest will remain high. Uncertain about recovery period following ACL surgery? He is known to have played both guard spots previously, and at 6-6 could potentially play the 1-2-3 for the team.

Teams sometimes cool after a major injury like this and will wait and see if the player returns physically before heating back up. Matt Ryan (Notre Dame commit) is a good example.
