2014 PG Devonte Graham (Kansas Commit)

Apparently, we're interested, as are others, in this Appalachian State commit, who is now enrolled at Brewster due to App. St. not granting a release.

(The tape starts off a little slowly, but as it gets going there are some ridiculous passes and moves, and a couple of great blocks for a PG)

I have no idea if we'll ever get a visit or have anything to do with the kid but I have no idea how he wasn't more highly recruited in the past. He looks to have about everything you'd want in a point guard.

That is a really great video.

Interesting prospect. Wonder who App State thinks tampered with him, Uconn?

Anybody know what the rule is - Can Appy St release him only to particular schools that they approve of or do they have to grant a release to all?

I know if he was already at the school and wanted to transfer, the school can restrict his options. Unfortunately, I think if it is just an LOI deal, they can only issue a blanket release. Anybody know for sure?

Hard to say what happened there. From the article it sounded to me that App St is acting in a spiteful manner, but how many top rated kids (or their coaches/parents/handlers) don't know that they're that hot, and that they should check around? And where was UConn - or anyone else - when he was taking the visit to App St in the first place?

Odd situation.

it's a fine line - on the one hand - schools need to maintain the integrity of the NLI - otherwise poaching will become rampant after it's signed

on the other hand - it might make recruiting more difficult if you hold a kid hostage like this

good looking video, though.

UTEP took the same "line in the sand" stand with 2013 5 * Issacc Hamilton. Hamilton transferred to UCLA and will sit out for the 2013-2014 season. He never enrolled at UTEP.

I asked about the rule because if the school can release him to play for certain schools, yet restrict others, we could be in a good position. We certainly aren't the ones who tampered, and we are a long, long way from Appy St so they don't have to worry about seeing him around there or playing against him again.

Do the rules allow us to contact Appy St and beg for a release just for us?

Maybe we could ask Tom Apke to put in a good word.
