I guess my entire point was to bring up the fact that 40k in tuition might not be a good thing like people think. I had no intention of getting on the scholarship topic, so that was a poor choice on my part to use it as an example in the tuition topic. However, since we are on topic, while GG might end up on scholarship next year, that does not mean Mac did not ask him to walk-on. It just means Mac did not fill the spot, and GG gets to keep it as a result.

It does limit our flexibility somewhat, although for greyshirt type situations, the kid is eligible for academic scholarships and the typical aid and the scholarships are available up until they take the court.

To bolster your point, I think it hurt us with conner frankamp. He probably would have had to walk on for a semester, but instead went with the cheaper (and also local) option at Wichita.

This doesn't resonate with me at all. GG has graduated. He's played on scholarship for his entire career. He had the option of staying or going, and we have no information - other than message board conjecture - that he was ever asked to forego his scholarship so we could bring on another player. The only player in Mac's history who had a scholarship, and then was asked to "walk-on", was his All American, best-player-in-Creighton-history, son - Doug. I would categorize that as a very specific, once-in-a-lifetime situation. If other coaches want to use that "against" Creighton, I invite (and encourage) them to do so. The more they point out Doug McDermott, the better it is for Creighton University.

So, in my humble opinion, I feel like you've completely missed the mark on this entire line of thinking. I'm not saying that the $40,000 tuition always helps (chicagojayfan pointed out a solid reason why), but it doesn't hurt in the way Mr. Burmano is angling at. IMO.

If I were a recruiter, I would not discuss the perceived "price" of tuition, but rather point to the quality of education, resources, facilities, etc, and stay away from any discussion involving dollars. Recruits are not here to save money, but rather to play hoops and get an education.

Coverage from KC...Talks about 2016 Mike Weathers, 2017 Trae Young.
Mention of Sneed, Ballock, others in brief paragraph of STL Eagle's win over KC's Run DMC.

Tough to beat out the east coast teams, but hopefully the fact that he can still get close enough for friends and family to come watch several times each year, as well as the tournament, and that he will be on television almost every game is enough to overcome the lure of playing near home.

Last I checked, Jays are in the "final groups" of 6-7 top notch 2016 recruits. Would be interested to see how the coaches handle this. 1st man up?

Word is Mac and maybe one other coaches are going to adopt some players.

The Doug scholarship will be a revolving thing here.
