For those who think 247 Sports is such a great recruiting site they still don't have Hunter's pledge noted on their website.

Brian Snow ‏@BSnowScout
First look at Creighton big man commit Hunter Thompson. Big, mobile, and a good athlete. Not there yet, but big upside

Adidas tourney in Dallas area. He's playing for a Utah team, here are his stats:

http://adidasuprising.com/2016-gauntlet-series-dallas-gold-division-schedule-stats/

He's among the tournament leaders with 3.5 blocks/game through two games. Also averaging 9 boards. Big guys don't see the ball that much in these events, so don't expect much scoring. His team is 1-1 so far.

Hunter competes in high jump:

Cleared 5-11. We don't have to worry about losing him to a track career. :)

Ha, true, but a look at his track career is pretty interesting:

He cleared 6-6 back in 2015, threw the shot put 45', Discus 132', If you compare that to Class D in Nebraska (about his level) he doesn't look all that bad. 45 ft shot puts him close to top 10, Discuss is the same, the 6-6 High Jump leads class D this year, his best this year of 6-2 is 3rd, and 5-10 ties for top 10, He's not going to blow anyone away and become a D1 track star, but I find those numbers pretty encouraging about what kind of athlete he is at 6-10.

He even ran the 400 meters and 4x400 relay for them, the 75m hurdles, and triple jump. His triple jump wasn't good, but I'm kind of amazed a guy that long could even do the steps in the triple!

Couldn't really find out how Hunter did but his team went 5-0 this weekend to win the Adidas Uprising Tournament in California.

Some recruiting service has bumped Hunter up to a 3 star. As such the Jays have the No. 2 rated class on 247 (for now). ;)
