@JucoRecruiting: Tevin Calhoun, a JUCO forward, has decommitted from Creighton.

So much for having an athletic wing next year. We really need Nevin to be a difference maker/recruit a wing with some speed and driving ability

11.6 ppg, 70% ft, 41% fg shooter, 33% from 3-pt range, 4 rebounds/game, 1.1 ast/game, 2 turnovers a game

Again, don't want to sound like a dick here, but those numbers are in JUCO...I think the coaches saw a long/athletic wing and reached here...don't think he was going to get much playing time and I think both sides probably realized that.

Would it be nice to have a long/athletic wing? Yes. I don't think he is our guy though.

Really looking forward to seeing Nevin next year, hoping he can bring us the athleticism we need.

This tells me the staff REALLY likes what Nevin will be able to give them next year. Im sure they're hunting for a player.

That's what I've been thinking.

FWIW, in one of his chats, somebody asked Piv about Nevin. Piv said that he has had some of the typical up and downs of a regular freshman, BUT there are days in practice that he is the best player on the floor! Piv isn't exactly known for overhyping/overselling/puffery, so I think that comment is pretty telling.

We are gonna need someone who can drive the ball and create his own shot. We have alot of stationary guards who can shoot the 3 on this team and with AY gone next year, there won't be anyone really who can do that. I hope we are still looking.

Funny thing is I think we DO have the players to drive to the basket.

At different times this year I have seen Jahenns, JJ, Chatman, Dingman and GG all drive the lane with positive results...

It is just a matter of getting them to do it more often.

Hopefully adding Nevin into this mix will only increase our slashing ability.

Our wings are going to be fighting for minutes even without Calhoun, wouldn't be much to go around with him in the mix.

True, but like you said, it will happen like once every other game for each player. 80% of their shots are still 3's. Hopefully they can develop more of their game in the summer.

Andre Yates (AY2) is that sort of player. AY2 is a scoring PG, who loves to drive and dish or drive and score.
He should take up the slack that others may shy away from driving the lane.

Furthermore, the coaches appear to be looking. Apparently have an eye on the kid at Findlay Prep, Amedeo
della Valle, a 3 postition-type wing, who is listed as a 6-5 to 6-6 PG. Also Dyshawn Pierre is still available...
