Not looking good. http://www.hngn.com/articles/127786/20150909/st-johns-basketball-recruiting-rumors-shamorie-ponds-meets-with-chris-mullin-commitment-coming-soon.htm

247Sports.com has 12 out of 12 "expert recruiting analysts" saying he's going to St. John's (the university, not the Creighton church). Arizona has also recently joined in the mix, and has playing time to offer - although that isn't expect to impact anything. The odds are stacked, but he could still shock the world!

I think the long delay on making a decision is the only thing giving me flickering hope.

@adamzagoria has been on top of Pond's recruiting updates. Here is the most recent according to him. Prov, Minny, Creighton, and the Johnnies are his final four schools. He has already visited CU and SJU. He has upcoming visits to Prov and Minny and plans to take them all. Arizona recently entered offered (scary), but supposedly Ponds isn't adding any more schools to his list. All 4 schools went to visit him yesterday and today.

Ponds looks like a tough get on the surface. I guess we can take positives from him not committing directly after his St. Johns visit and hoping that the media covering his recruitment is slanted w/ some East Coast Bias.

All I know is that if 247 predicted him to CU, I would be writing him off. So, I'd say there is hope.

Zagoria update after PC visit.

The Friars are offering a starting spot and 30+ mpg as a freshman since Dunn should be gone.

He said he's "not sure" if he'll make his scheduled visit to Minnesota.

http://zagsblog.com/articles/shamorie-p ... next-move/

So PC has an open spot, Creighton has one more year of Mo and then an open spot, and St. John's has Marcus LoVett coming in this year as a freshman who is highly touted, about the same size as Ponds (botuh 6 feet, 160 pounds) and very ball-dominant from the one game of his I saw (he outscored the other team 29-26 in the first half).

Our coaches don't play the "you'll play 35 minutes as a frosh" game. Surprised Cooley does. I've lost a little respect for the man today.

Hard to say what they really told him. Going just of the quote in Zagoria's article, Cooley might have made a promise. Or, maybe they said our starting point guard plays 30 to 35 minutes, and with Chris Dunn graduating, if you come in hear work hard an beat out the other PGs on the roster, we think that could be you - and what Shamorie heard was you will play 30 to 35 minutes next year. Don't know. Just think I'd give Cooley the benefit of the doubt, cause I would likewise be surprised if he plays that game.

Cancelled his Minnesota trip, down to us, Providence, and SJU.
