I was thinking the same thing. When I saw "multiple felony sex crimes," I was ready to throw him in jail forever. Then, I read that a 16-year old kid was in possession of some sexual content made by a 15-year old girl, and my rage subsided. Still illegal. Still wrong. But I would ask the same question - how many kids today might be charged similarly if you confiscated their phones? That's not a justification, but something to consider when people read the headline (like I initially did) and cast full judgment.
