These "prep/graduate academys" play some funky teams/schedules. Juco JV teams, combo teams etc. Sunrise stats page has always been crappy. Sunrise has some talent on its post graduate team. Routinely place 4-5 guys a year in D1.

Iowa Western has a couple of notable forwards... how did they look last night?

I was at the game vs IWCC and was a bit surprised at the stat sheet for Shereef. I did not realize he had so many points and assists. I arrived late, just a few minutes into the game and a player on Sunrise was down on the floor with an injury and never returned. Was also told that Sunrise had 2 players that did not return for 2nd semester as they went on to college. Sunrise had about a 6 point lead early on but lost 98 - 88. IWCC dominated the paint and scored at will on drives to the basket. Shereef was clearly the best guard on his team but IWCC also had a guard that scored 32 points. IWCC size inside disrupted Sunrise at times but Sunrise did have a big guy that for sure is a high D-1 player. The players names and numbers on jersey's did not always match what was in the program which was a bit irritating.

Does anyone have final stats for Shereef for his extra “prep” year? All I could find on Sunrise Christian Academy website was 8 games played, 17 points per game, 53% overall shooting and 65% free throws and 18% from three point range. 2.7 assists a game and 4 rebounds per game. Another website had the team record 16-9, so there were 25 games total.

That’s all there is. Few write ups on Shereef and his teammates down here. Most go D1. They play about anyone they can on the grad team.

I'm excited to see Mitchell on the court this year. I think his D will give us something different to add to the mix. Khyri played 18.6 a game as a Frosh after his year at Prep School. Our roster is more stacked than it was then, but I can see him getting minutes to take Mintz's role the following year.

Will he be our primary PG backup this year? Will he be more of a pure PG or more of a combo guy (i.e., can we have him and Marcus on the floor at the same time)? Will we use him as a defensive specialist?

Lots of questions about just what role, but I like his attitude and the skills he brings and think he'll be worked in very quickly. To me he looks like the kind of guy who can really help team
