He made the defensive player of the year list not the actual best player in the country list.

Naismith released a list of players under consideration for their defensive player of the year, it is not their overall player of the year.

Not buying him as a top-10 or 15 defender either. His metrics are great, but that's because he plays on the best defensive team in the country.
