It wouldn't completely shock me to see Bishop leave after this year if he doesn't see the floor outside of sharing time in the post. But, keep the lines of communication open. Stanford has not been good basketball wise since their NIT championship 5 years ago. 63-64 over that time, and Haase is 48-49 in his three seasons. Another season like his first three and Haase may be out. Of course, Murrell may not care so much about that. But in a couple of years and little maturing, he may realize Stanford isn't the end all be all, and he may rather come home to play in front of his parents and friends. If Mac starts playing with a true 4 again, perhaps he'd be more interested.

Well said and right on, why would a wing or four over 6 7 attend CU just to get stuck as a 5

No one can fault Murrell for choosing Stanford. Obviously, he is a great student, and education is important to him. I think CU is a top notch academic institution. But, it would be hard to pass up a Stanford education. Often times, kids go to college thinking (often unrealistically) that they are going to play pro basketball. Maybe Max is pursing the best education possible, and you can't fault him. Nonetheless, I am upset we couldn't secure a local prospect. I really hope we can get Hepburn and/or Sallis in 2021. We have had great success recruiting and developing Bellevue West point guards. I really hope Chucky recognizes that and is the next local commit.

Like - Doug McDermott?

The bigger question is, why would anyone want to be a fan of this team?

Umm, that was what, 6 years ago? And Doug wasn't stuck at the 5. So  back atcha. We had at least 2 and often 3 kids over 6'7" on the floor together back then. Yes, we moved Doug in and out of the post on offense, because he had great post moves. Perhaps you recall guys named Echenique, Artino, Groselle and Hanson, who were regularly on the floor as the 5 during Doug's career. But, that was then, this is now. Unless coach gets up the gumption to work Bishop into the lineup along with Epperson or Jones, this will be the 3rd season in a row with one guy above 6'5" regularly on the floor. And guess what it makes that one guy? That's right, the 5. Until Mac goes away from his four guard offense, no 6'8", 6'9" kid who fancies himself a forward and not a 5 is going to come here - or certainly not a top 100 kid with lots of options. And any premise that someone who isn't happy with what is going on with the program isn't a fan is just weak sauce.

Pretty sure Toby Hegner played the 4 at Creighton since Doug and pretty sure he was over 6’7. Yes, he played the 5 on D but that was because Martin was better suited to the 4 on D and 5 on O.

Can’t fault a kid for going to Stanford, Ivy or other similar over Creighton. Some kids want to get away and playing in front of family in college is a low priority. Fortunately, it has been important for plenty of local kids.

Actually we didn't when Doug was playing. He measured in at 6-6 1/4 without shoes, and definitely not the 6-8 he was listed at. Add in relatively short arms, and he wasn't exactly a prototypical PF - something that showed when we got to the BE (Wragge was listed as 6-7, but probably wasn't that tall either (almost certainly not).

Groselle barely played when Doug was still around (49 minutes Doug's senior year). Same for Hanson, 122 minutes Doug's senior year. Artino did get 457 minutes that year. Wragge got 946 and was by far playing the most often next to Doug in the Big East.

Murrell was a possibility for playing the 4 for us due to his shooting at least some of the time, but not that many teams in the BE are running out traditional PF's these days. Stanford does more than most, but this was more likely an academic decision. LJay's right about this one.

And Cole Huff played 4 for 2 years at 6-8.
