Seems like a great one to keep a good relationship with -- Texas may turn out to not be a great fit or opportunity and there's always a chance that he decides to move on after a year there. We've seen that before.
Best of luck to him -- a lot of potential for a really bright future there.

I certainly don’t have a problem with him wanting to play for a black head coach, but his comment that “I feel like Black coaches don’t get the same opportunities to get good players at their schools” seems like a weird statement when if Shaka is known for anything at this point it’s being a top level recruiter. Unless he’s talking in direct relation to Kansas, which yeah I guess not many of any coaches get players that good.
Recruiting rankings since Shaka’s arrival:
2019: 17th
2018: 8th
2017: 6th (ahead of Kansas)
2016: 6th (ahead of Kansas)
Regardless, wish him the best of luck. Smart hasn’t shown much in turning the program around so who knows what a year from now brings.

Best of luck to Tamar. Shaka needs some help as he has been decidedly mediocre at UT.
Beautiful ladies on that campus. Never hurts the recruiting.

Was a guy I really liked from early on. Saw his film and saw him as one of the glue guys who can do everything and would be great in our system.
Can be a lot of things here. UT Austin has a really big campus feel in a fun city and maybe he wants that for now.
As others have said, we have a strong relationship and Shaka (despite great recruiting), hasn't been good at all at Texas. 2 trips to the Tourney in 5 years, none the last 2 years.

In other words, Tamar turned down Creighton's offer because the coach is white.

Dumb stuff like that getting posted will hurt recruiting for sure.
Be smart folks

My money was that Waylon was going to post something like this.

He'll probably follow Shaka to Marquette but Tamar just ask for his release from Texas.

Yeah, Marquette seems like the likely landing spot. I would say there's a snowball's chance in hell that he even responds to a text from a Creighton coach reaching out to him.
