So how is Memphis State, with his dad an assistant coach there, NOT going to get this kid?

Not every kid wants to play for their father, and playing for a father who isn't even the head coach is probably even more difficult.

Maybe he doesn't want to play for his dad for some reason or wants to live somewhere else. Maybe his dad doesn't feel like he'll be coaching at Memphis much longer for whatever reason.

Former star NBA players like Hardaway coaching at the college level typically last only a few years for whatever reason: Thomas, Mullin, Theus and the list goes on. I would be surprised if Hardaway stays at Memphis past this season. I could see CU getting this kid.

And as a sidenote I watched the kid's video - impressive athletic ability and he can shoot. Top 50 player for certain
