For comparison what’s Kalk’s Standing reach? And why isn’t this a schtickey?
At Creighton Bob Gibson majored in sociology and starred in Basketball and Baseball. In 1957 Gibson received a $3,000 sign-on bonus with St. Louis Cardinals, but delayed his HOF Cards career a year to play pro B-ball with the Harlem Globetrotters.

Nothing is official with a recruit committing or signing with Creighton until the BJU makes said recruit’s thread a “stickie.”

With that clear fact now established, moderators can make my weekend, and perhaps others’, a bit more anxiety-free by, you know…

Totally unrelated, Final Four games next season will be played on April 1 and 3, 2023 at NRG Stadium in Houston.

standing reach doesn't get quoted as much, but I've seen Kalk's wingspan listed as 7-4. That's not top 10 in the NBA (think those are around 7-6 and up), but that's a tremendous wingspan

as a comp, Ike Anigbogu has a 7-6 wingspan and 9-2 standing reach, but not sure the two are always comparable.

One of the things I like about King is that he has the balance and agility and length to allow us to do a lot of what we like to do with Kalkbrenner defensively, but people shouldn't underestimate how mature Kalkbrenner is defensively - his footwork, patience, positioning and recognition are pretty amazing at his age

Very big human and 3x DPoY NBA player Rudy Gobert has a 9'9 standing reach and 7'8.5 wingspan.

While measurables are important, all the agility and game knowledge about positioning and recovering after jumping are very important. Kalkbrenner is a little less agile and huge than Rudy but his positioning and paint footwork on offense and defense are excellent. I really think Kalk will be going pro next year assuming his knees/lower body hold up.

No doubt... and it's because the kid is a stickler for detail from what I hear. And the devil is in the details... and really can be the difference between playing at the highest levels... and NOT.

The higher the level of play, the more likely it is that the other guy is just as fast, strong and skillful as you are. So it comes down to mentality/character and effort...and some people would say "chance/luck" as well... being in the right place at the right time. Also keeping yourself injury-free. More than 1 or 2 careers have been ruined because of an injury and being on the DL or IR while someone else passes them up.

The Poster Child for this is Kyle Korver. HIs "Off-Seasons" don't exist, for the most part, based on what I have read about him. The consummate professional.

At the NBA combine, Patton measured in at just under 7-feet tall with a 7-foot-3 wingspan and 9-foot-3.5 standing reach.

The #91 ranking is a consensus ranking, while On3 has him at #64.

This is a pointless post other than to bump Fredrick because of how important he is to CU’s program, without getting the hype. He’s the invaluable only back-up big we have in the upcoming championship run. He’s also the star big of tomorrow.

That is all.
