2023 transfer portal

Postby LJay » Tue Mar 21, 2023 8:29 pm

Sooooo, there are something like 900 kids in the portal. Twitter is lousy with “ here are the schools that have reached out to Joe ….” Not one kid lists a reach out from Creighton, not one. Skers have reached out to dozens and dozens.

Reports here seem to indicate that some kids associated with a Creighton offer are laying very low. It should be interesting in a few weeks.

It’s because Mac is busy recruiting for ND. Sorry, couldn’t help myself. :-)

Mac told Friedrichsen he had to wait until he was sure someone was leaving before he would re-extend an offer.

If that was true then that explains everything.

Well, it could most certainly by that CU is trying to see who is coming back. It makes the most sense that there isn't a lot of chatter. Also, I guess we are in the sweet 16 which will take some time.

If kids get a text or email from a coach they call it a reach out and want it on Twitter pronto. To me, our staff either thinks most everyone is coming back or they have already ID’ed their transfer targets and are keeping it on the down low.

It doesn't help that we've got four starters on the fringe of the draft. Tough calls to be made for 3-4 guys

Regardless of how many folks leave we will be fine in the portal. We're already doing work there already I believe. It's just a matter of how many open spots we end up having.

Creighton should be all over Grant Nelson from NDSU if/when he hits the portal. 6'11" four man that can shoot it decent (career 30%), can play off the bounce on the wing, great footwork in the post, extremely long and athletic, great shot blocker. If Kaluma goes to the draft or transfers Grant Nelson could fill his spot. Him next to Kalk would be a nightmare for other teams. There would be no points scored at the rim.

30% from 3? Sign him now! I kid. Intriguing prospect. Some good players in The Summit, including Baylor and Sam this year.

Hearing Lampkin from TCU to G'town. A Croswell type. Big bodied who gets boards and putbacks but can't shoot beyond 5 feet.

Yep I know 30% from three is not great. Figured I would put that in there as he can shoot the three ball, just hasn't been super efficient over his career. Kaluma is currently at 29% career three point shooter over his two seasons.

He is a very intriguing prospect. I'm from North Dakota and have known about him since he was 6'2" as a junior in high school. I think he could take Kaluma's spot if he leaves and provide even more for Creighton. All the top schools will be reaching out to him as he will be similar to Baylor as one of the top transfer portal prospects.
