Can Fred get NIL? Foreign players are limited and his situation requires some creative planning like giving him his bag while he is in the Bahamas. Oh wait, Jays were in the Bahamas last summer and this coming fall. Ahhhhhh, it’s all fitting together now!

Technically no, as an international student, he is not allowed to get NIL. There are some workarounds...as you mentioned, if the player signs his/her deal while outside of the United States and it isn't illegal in the country it's signed. This was another big reason, so I've been told, that Nembhard went to Gonzaga. It was a lot easier for him to get to Canada for him to sign contracts and get paid.
