Congratulations to Kalk!! He earned it.

It’s also good to see 4 BE players getting recognized.

At Creighton Bob Gibson majored in sociology and starred in Basketball and Baseball. In 1957 Gibson received a $3,000 sign-on bonus with St. Louis Cardinals, but delayed his HOF Cards career a year to play pro B-ball with the Harlem Globetrotters.

I wrote about Kalkbrenner and Ashworth, touching on their busy offseasons on and off the court and what they're focusing on to make the most of their final season of college basketball.

There are a lot of really impressive aspects of Kalkbrenner's play, but his ability to play at that level for that many minutes and without fouling is something we may never see again from a Center!

Great article also

We saw something special tonight

"The last D-I player to make 20 shots at a 90 percent clip or better was Bill Walton, in the 1973 national championship."

Not a lot of people on this Board pay attention to the NBA, and so I suspect that this has been lost in the shuffle (but I might have missed it elsewhere).

Brian Windhorst (Omaha resident) hosts a podcast called the Hoop Collective for ESPN. It is probably their top podcast on the NBA now that Zach Lowe has been let go. They had on an agent, Mark Bartelstein, who is Kalkbrenner's agent. In the first ten minutes, they talked a good deal about Kalk and Baylor. I was surprised by how much Creighton content was on this nationally ranked NBA podcast.

Bartelstein is a long-time agent - 1st big rep was Hot Rod Williams.

The hosts set him up to talk about the changing world of the NBA, and he immediately started talking about Kalk scoring 49 that week. Then Windhorst and Bartelstein talked about Kalk compared to Edey, and how it was a difficult decision by Kalk (but the right one - according to Bartelstein) to not go through the draft evaluation. Instead, the was really proud of how he worked for six months to improve his strength and conditioning. Then, they talked about how Baylor had a similar experience at Creighton. Finally, he sort of went through why he thought Edey moved up into the 1st round and thought it was similar to Kalk. They also talked about how Bartelstein has a long relationship with McDermott. He is Doug's agent too.

There was a little discussion about agents going into college and how NIL required good representation. But, that was not a huge part of the interview.

So, it was a Creighton love fest for about 3-5 minutes right at the beginning of the podcast. It was basically the first thing that they talked about.

Bartelstein went through and talked about a bunch of other people he represents - but Creighton came up two or three times more during the podcast.
