Knicks had the obligatory loss in the back-to-back game on the road last night along with the additional problem of Porzingis being out of the game.

+/- stats aren't always indicative of play since a lot of things have to go right, but McDermott's been on the plus side more often than not this year, and last night was a +8 in a decent game 30 minutes, 5/9, 3/4 3Pt, 13 pts. i suspect it's a factor of a team using him on offense to create the mismatches they need for more efficient scoring and him upping his team and on-ball D enough to not get burned on the defensive end.

6th man of the year? maybe -- if the Knicks are a surprise this year, they'll get attention and McDermott is on a nice run right now with maybe even better things to come

I think it’s too early to talk about rewards, especially when it comes to a team that has thus far overachieved, but he’s gotta AT LEAST be on an early list for Most Improved.

His season averages are up .7 and his assists are up .8 from his career averages. Let’s not put the carriage in front of the horse.

I'm looking at the trend line and he's getting minutes and being productive, not to mention the advantage of being a very useful player to have paired with Porzingis. I'll check in after a few weeks

I just can't get out of bed in the morning until I read some drivel from CU Final Four!

Another good one here:

https://dailyknicks.com/2017/11/09/new- ... erm-value/

"Per Marc Berman of The New York Post, big man Kyle O’Quinn summarized McDermott’s game perfectly: “Just find him…he’ll make you look good.”

While the offensive potential has always existed, it’s the level of commitment that McDermott has displayed on defense that’s won him playing time. He still struggles an individual defender, but he’s working within the scheme and isn’t losing his man when defending off-ball.

In turn, McDermott has helped the Knicks accumulate net ratings of -0.1 with him on the court and -4.2 when he isn’t. Neither mark is especially ideal, but the divide is vast.

The New York Knicks are 4.1 points per 100 possessions better when McDermott is on the floor—a telling statistic."

Knicks forward Doug McDermott takes a shot at some Q&A with Post columnist Steve Serby.

Another solid game for Doug as he scores 15 of his 16 on 5 threes that helped the knicks pull away from the clippers when it was 68-66.

Dougs having a solid season so far at 8.5 ppg and hitting threes at 45%. If he can nudge that number up to 10 ppg stay in the 43-46% range on his threes and keep improving his defense he'll be in line for a big pay day after this year.
