Hopefully he can get some traction somewhere, I haven't watched the Mavs all year, is there playing time to be had?

I just hope he gets a chance to prove himself in Dallas. He's up for free agency this summer right? It would be nice to get a good payday if he can show he can contribute.

Pretty cool to have him back with Harrison Barnes again. Funny how the world works

ESPN fantasy basketball take:
FANTASY BASKETBALL
McDermott was traded to the Mavericks on Thursday as part of a three-team deal involving the Nuggets and Knicks, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Spin: McDermott's arrival in Dallas gives the Mavericks some much-needed depth on the wing, as the team didn't have much to work with behind Harrison Barnes. As a result, McDermott should go from seeing fluctuating minutes in New York to being a legitimate contributor on the Mavericks' second unit for the rest of the regular season. With Dallas scheduled to play Thursday night at Golden State, the earliest McDermott will likely be able to make his Mavericks debut will be Saturday against the Lakers.

odds are mounting against doug

four teams in four years = journeyman status

not that he can't make a nice 10 year or so career in the nba - but more that the likelihood that he'll be a starter/major contributor is starting to wane

hope this is the move that finally works out for him

While it's great for him to be with Barnes, Doug gets to join Dirk Nowitzki! Priceless. The Mavs play small ball so it will be a better offense for his skill set than NY and there should be 15-25 minutes.

Obviously, he had fallen out of the rotation in NY and was not in their plans. In the NBA, expiring contracts are gold and that's why Doug has been traded 3 times in the past year. The Mavs will not pick up his option, but he still has enough value for an NBA roster. The location and duration of his next contract will be telling.

Is there anything wrong with being a millionaire NBA journeyman?

of course not - but you'd kinda hope for more from a lottery pick

Sucks that things went this way - the Knicks have a game at The Garden the day after the BET. Could have been cool for Jays fans to see while out there.

Hope Dallas gives him some minutes and a chance to show what he can do.
