Mac takes/took a lot of criticism (as all HC's do) for not playing RH enough last year given how well he played down the stretch so, for me, it was great to read:

Harrell’s ability to attack the glass — “he’s our best and most active rebounder,” McDermott said — could be one of his biggest attributes for this team. Creighton needs to be better on the boards this year, particularly on defense, according to McDermott.

“That’s going to be an important part of our team success,” he said.

Two big physical impressions from Xavier: 1. J.P. Macura has added 10 pounds of muscle 2. Trevon Bluiett is in the best shape of his life.

Xavier will be tough.

Macura is still a punk. All those muscles are going to get in the way of his shot.

Can you feel it? The leaves are turning colors, a bit of a chill in the air. Halloween just around the corner and the smell of Big Bronco's (the burger) in the air. College hoops season is less than a month away... hip, hip, hoorah! Been musing over the Jays schedule and the more I look the better it seems. UCLA Wisconsin, Baylor, and Gonzaga lost a ton of talent and will be relying heavily on incoming frosh to bolster their ranks - in catching them early I really like this opportunity to get good W's. Northwestern at the Rosemont will be a good test and the Wildcats haven't played there a lot, so they will have a learning curve and have to face an improved Jay defense while learning.

The conference slate shakes out to be the best one we've seen since joining the BE. The mix of upper and lower tiers is uniform, no extended home stands or road trips, we get SH on the road out the chute (can catch them with their arrogance up), get Nova at the WF for another Jays shooting clinic, and we should be prepared for fireworks at Marquette at the end. I am beginning to think we will do better than my projected 13-5 in the conference. Splits with Prov and Marq...

2017-18 has the po-tential to be a banner Bluejay Hoops year.

John Fanta came to Bluejay practice today, here are his thoughts in tweets:

One big takeaway from @BluejayMBB practice - Khyri Thomas’ offensive skillset. The junior’s raised his game to another level. #Creighton

BIG EAST coaches primarily have had to worry about Khyri Thomas’ defense. Now, you have to also be concerned w/ stopping him + Marcus Foster

The @BluejayMBB freshmen will be in the mix this season, and they scream “potential.” 6-foot-11 C Jacob Epperson has done some nice things.

Creighton has several pieces, but the key in the next 3 weeks will be to try to complete the puzzle. Point guard is still the question mark.

One under-the-radar @BIGEASTMBB grad transfer to keep an eye on - @BluejayMBB’s Manny Suarez (Adelphi). Could be a key for CU on the glass.

The good news for Creighton’s PG situation - they have options. Kaleb Joseph/Davion Mintz/Tyler Clement/Ty-Shon Alexander all in running.

Had heard a lot about @BluejayMBB’s freshmen before practice today.
Having watched them, I love the potential of this group. #Creighton

Jacob Epperson did some things tonight that go beyond the normal freshman center.
He could be really special for @BluejayMBB. #Creighton
