I had few doubts that Mitch would play this year and contribute and thought Tyshon would play as well. Absolutely wasn't expecting much from Epperson though. Thought he had lots of potential but would need a couple of years. It doesn't sound like that at all though. He won't play 25 minutes a game but sounds like he'll be able to come in and do some things that the other centers can't pretty much right out of the gate. Love this recruiting class.

Would love to see Ty-Shon playing the point by the end of his career here. He's got decent size at the 2 spot, but would be a problem at the point if he had the handle and court vision.

Some things I have heard from observers at practice:

Mitch would be a great fit at point- he very well could be playing that by end of the year
Martin looks vastly improved
Ty-Shon struggling, especially on defense
Kaleb not as strong as hoped
Jacob looks good and will get playing time
Manny about as advertised, 8 minute a game player
Ronnie looks more athletic - no surprise there

My take: the 5 and probably 4 spots are going to be by committee;
Kaleb and Mintz battle for the 1, but Mitch fills in for the 1-3 spots,
Ty-Shon possible redshirt,
Khyri and Marcus will be playing a ton of minutes- no crystal ball needed for that prediction

I had heard that the Jays were using 4 different guys at point guard for practices and Mitch wasn't one of them.
It Kaleb doesn't come through, it's possible Clement might see lots of minutes at the PG spot this year. It was reported that when Clement played PG last year the team was + points. I'm rooting for Kaleb to be the starting PG.

I'll check back with my friend that has attended some practices and get confirmation on Mitch playing point.

Here's our recap of Big East media day, with tons of video content from the Big East Digital Network in case you missed any of it, and transcribed interviews with Marcus, Khyri, and Coach Mac:
