watching a fair amount of hoops last few days - and some BE when possible

i know SJU came back - but they looked bad before i turned it against Mizzou - they'll probably be inconsistent - and throw Taz on Ponds and they'll be neutered. SP is a heckuva player though

Marquette may be better than originally thought - they may surprise. they sure got up and down against LSU - our games against them will light up the scoreboard

butler may be worse than originally thought - i know portland state was scrappy against duke, too - but they aren't very impressive in my limited viewing

Nova is nova - UNI hung with them in first half - but i think that's more a testament to ben jacobson being solid coach. they turned it on in second - final four caliber again.

Xavier looks solid. Watched Seton Hall, & I felt like MVC fans re:Funk in ‘07: “Is Delgado EVER going to graduate" ?!”

X down to ASU as I write this.

So far what i’ve Seen is if Toby comes back 95% and we avoid further major injuries this Jays squad will be in the hunt for a title. Not at all impressed with our league to date.

Of course, if someone only caught the second half of the Baylor game as their view of CU they would not be saying good things about the Jays. Small sample size but I like our chances this year based on that small sample size.

second look at depaul - opinion is the same - much improved athletically and overall

and while i pull for DA

it sure would have been funny to have the most nike team lose to the most afterthought nike team in phil knight's namesake tournament

Depaul is better, they are deeper and more talented. I can see them winning 5 or 6 Big East games this year. Still some bonehead plays near the end though. Taking out Maric when Oregon fouled out all their bigs, playing under screens against Pritchard when he's already hit 7 3's, walking the ball up the court/having no urgency when time is running out...

The tournament upsets have moved us up to 16 in Massey, 27 in TeamRankings, 35 in KenPom.

I don't think DePaul will be the easy out we're all accustomed to, but they're going to end up with around six noncon losses and at least another dozen league Ls, so their record won't be much different.

But, my God, their collective basketball IQ would be an insult to your average 4th grade Saturday morning YMCA league. Taking out Maric, who was tearing up Oregon, for "defensive purposes" in the last minute was dumb enough, but then, when they had the game's final possession and a chance to win in regulation, not hustling him back in by using the one TO they still had (with Oregon's bigs all on the bench) was fifty shades of stupid. And, yeah, DePaul did their part to turn that game into Career Night for Pritchard. DePaul will lose games just because their coaching staff can't figure out how basketball works.

Lunardi's latest bracketology has us playing Oregon in an 8-9 game in Wichita (and everybody knows, Lunardi's November bracketologies are money).

Watching WSU vs. SDSU at Wooden Legacy and analyst (Dino Gaudio) just stated how Creighton put up 102 on WSU last year and Ernie Kent asked Coach Mac how he gets his guys to run so fast and Coach Mac says he uses a 12 second shot clock. Kent now does the same thing. I guess "Let It Fly" is contagious!

I doubt we crack the Top 25 but Seth Davis has us at #19 on his AP Ballot.

Must be a reason behind their dramatic turnaround. They had to be bottom three worst power conference teams last few seasons.
