He would be in the NBA if he could play defense

His bigger issue is going to be height vs. skills. There are a lot of shooting guards who are 6-5 and bigger and who play above the rim. He's not a PG, either.

That said, he has some ability to handle the ball, and he is a good passer and not at all a black hole like some shooting guards. His D is better this year, but not great, though. He's also super strong and physical and elevates better than people think.

It will have to be the right circumstances for him to make the NBA, IMO

Someone who likes him may pick him in the second round, but he might have a nicer path to a roster if he can pick and choose as a FA. That's not a slam on him, it's just a commentary on how hard it is for guys like him to make the NBA

i think if he can improve his handle - there's a place for him on a roster

i think he's similar to another marcus - smart - without the going into the stands to push fans nonsense

i could see him not getting drafted (though I think he should), but i'd be shocked if he wasn't on a summer league team .. i second the comment about his handle, but I think what he's shown this year in terms of his shooting range is enough to get him in sooner rather than later.

That is AWESOME!

Who is an NBA comp for Marcus? Ben Gordon immediately came to mind. Joe Dumars is a reach, but I'm looking for 6'3" shooting guards.

Here's an NBA scouting report for Marcus:

Pros:
Solid scorer off the dribble
Good shooter from all over the floor
Excels at scoring on the move
Handles the ball well
Adequate defensive player
Very good athlete

Cons:
Must improve his playmaking skills
Can be too scoring focused on offense
Needs to improve his rebounding
Does not collect enough steals or blocks
Not a true point guard, but is undersized to play the two
Was dismissed from his previous school

Summary:
Marcus Foster is an athletic, combo guard that can shoot and score the basketball. He will really need to improve his playmaking skills, as he may lack the ability to effectively run the point at this stage due to not possessing great court vision. But Foster can put up points in a hurry, and he is also a solid athlete that can help his team get stops defensively. With his skill set, he could be a potential second round pick in 2018.

It comes down to the bold in my non-NBA GM opinion. If the guy was a legit 6'6" he'd be a no-brainer 1st rounder.

He also would never have gotten here. He would have made it at a program bigger than K State and jumped after a year or two.
