2017-18 Games worthy of note

Postby section202jay » Mon Nov 13, 2017 12:01 pm

I didn't see one of these yet so I'll start it up.

Monday, Nov. 13
No. 15 Minnesota at Providence - 5:30 p.m. on FS1
St. Peter's at No. 19 Northwestern - 7 p.m.
Texas A&M Corpus Christi at No. 24 Baylor - 7 p.m.
North Texas at Nebraska - 7 p.m.
Delaware State at DePaul - 7 p.m. on FS2
Alcorn State at Northern Iowa - 7 p.m. on ESPN3
Rider at No. 17 Xavier - 7:30 p.m. on FS1
Arkansas-Pine Bluff at North Dakota - 8:30 p.m.

I find it pretty crazy that Alcorn State plays on back-to-back nights. Also, we get an extra day's rest over Northwestern. The Minnesota vs. PC game is must-watch.

I'm really excited to see the Providence-Minnesota game. A lot of people have Minnesota as a darkhorse FF contender, and Providence is right ahead of us in the preseason standings. Will be fun to see how they match up.

Pretty interesting that Northwestern only beat Loyola (MD) by 4 (79 - 75). Were down 1 with 4 minutes left. Like our chances - especially with Taz coming off of a rough game.

Interested to see how they play tonight.

Providence is picked to win by 2. Surprising or not?

I don't think so. Providence is ranked 24 on KenPom, Minnesota 38. KenPom "predicts" a 5 point Providence win FWIW. Two point favorites at home in an early season game seems fair.

Minnesota is really, really good. While I know it was a scrimmage, we kept it pretty close with them, and I think that's a good sign.

If we are using standard logic, competing well in a single preseason scrimmage = guaranteed deep postseason success.

Unimpressed with Providence's defense. Minny is really good and got on a roll. But, I don't think Providence defense was very good, at least not tonight.

Looks like us losing to Minny on the road wasnt too bad. They looked pretty impressive.

Yup, it's early but they look like a team that is a Sweet Sixteen contender at minimum.
