2017-18 Games worthy of note

I can't figure out what's going on at Georgetown. As of tonight, they have played fewer games this season than anybody in all of Division 1. Seriously. There are more than 350 team in D1, and they're the most, um, rested of any of them. Pictures of their team are going to start showing up on milk cartons pretty soon. They backed out of that big tournament in Portland last month and DePaul had to rush in to fill their spot. They have one road game on their noncon sked, and one game against a Power 5 team. Their complete schedule will be two games short of a full load (which might have something to do with bailing on that Oregon tournament).

Do they just not want to play basketball any more? They might find out the game can be fun if they'd just give it a try.

I can tell you their non-conference is not going to help their attendance ratings. You think Jays fans were upset about our home non-con schedule just take a peak in DC.

Hoping that Ewing can turn it around and maybe their goal is NIT this year but this may be the softest non-con schedule from a Power 5 I’ve ever seen.

Considering Providence came damn close tonight to becoming the third best team in Rhode Island, maybe G'town is on to something. Maybe NOT playing is the best way to make sure nothing bad happens and you keep moving up in the polls.

Their schedule is really kind of funny. It looks like somebody tried to put together a killer sked and kept just missing. They have Maryland (Eastern Shore), North Carolina (A&T), Alabama (A&M), Texas (North) and St. Mary's (Mount).

Did anyone else see that Loyola-Chicago went into Gainesville and beat the #5 Gators last night? Whoa Valley. That conference RPI that is talked about in the 2017-18 Season thread had to have gotten a boost from that last night.

I watched the majority of that Loyola-CHI vs. Florida game. The Ramblers were hitting everything but also played good defense. The Valley is really impressive this season. At least the top half.

Their strength of schedule is 351. It takes a lot of work to schedule that badly.

Didn't Altman get accused of doing something similar to this early on? Soft OOC schedule to build up confidence and pad the win/loss record? Something new coaches do to try and building a winning culture early on. Georgetown just taking it to the EXTREME.

I don't know but Altman is getting accused of a lot more things these days
