Battle for third through seventh

Postby Dundee Hipster » Mon Feb 12, 2018 12:51 pm

I think at this point we can safely assume Xavier and Nova are 1st and 2nd for the Big East Tournament. We can also probably assume Gtown, DePaul and StJ are 8, 9 and 10. Marquette might be bad enough to sneak into the 8th spot, but probably not. I also think that we are safe from an opening night game at this point since we are three wins ahead of Marquette.

Remaining schedules for those battling it out in the middle:

Creighton
Marquette
@Butler
Nova
DePaul
@Marquette

Seton Hall
@Xavier
DePaul
@Providence
@St Johns
Villanova
Butler

Providence
Villanova
@Butler
Seton Hall
@Gtown
@Xavier
St Johns

Butler
Gtown
Providence
Creighton
@St Johns
@Seton Hall

Marquette
@Creighton
St Johns
@DePaul
@Gtown
Creighton

It's hard to say who has the easiest remaining schedule, but I think it's safe to say that Seton Hall has the toughest remaining schedule.

I am glad that we will not see St. John's again. Hopefully, we don't see them in the tournament either.

Strange how your perspective changes during the season. If you'd told me at the beginning of conference play that we'd lose Martin and still be sitting in third place with five conference games to go and be ranked 25th, I'd take it in a New York second.

Not sure it really matters who we play in the first round now. Butler, PC and SH are all tough teams, but we've already beaten each of them.

I think Providence has by far the toughest road ahead. I could see them going 0-for-6 with that slate.

Agree w Altman's Advisor that Providence appears to have the most difficult remaining schedule. I don't envy those Friars.

Which is why we are going to have to beat those ugly mutts. That one is going to be a brawl. I hope the fellas will be up for it. Gotta take care of business at home first, of course.

No way, at best they go 4-1. More likely 3-2.

Nobody in that group will run the table.

I overlooked PC's schedule. That is the toughest one.

If I had to guess the order going into NYC, I would say this:

Nova
Xavier
Butler
Creighton
Seton Hall
Providence
Marquette
St Johns
Georgetown
DePaul
