If KState can slow the game down, then I am seriously worried about the combination of Wade and Makol down low. However Creighton wins if we can hit early threes and get out in transition. We'll see how KState's bigs handle running around the perimeter guarding smaller guys. Regardless of style, we will need Khryi to be Khyri on defense guarding Barry.

My opinion is if we limit the damage inside and Khyri can stifle Barry, Creighton wins.

Seems the slower team usually wins the pace of play battle. CU will have to dominate the boards on defense if they wanna get this game anywhere near where they want it.

Friend of mine is the editor at the Baylor SB Nation page and posted these two Baylor-KState previews. Creighton isn't Baylor, but he breaks down (and uses gifs) to show specific examples of K-State playing style. Worth a look IMO.

Old MVC Days wrote:Just a quick look at K-State's lineup;

Dean Wade - 6'10" - 16.5 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 2.8 apg = Guy can stretch the defense, hitting 40 three's this season at a 44% clip. Shoots decent from the free-throw line at 74%. One of their two best players.

Barry Brown - 6'3" - 16 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.4 apg = Their stud guard. Probably put Khyri on this guy. Nice to have a lockdown guy to eliminate him. He shoots poor from three, but is capable at 33%. Looks like he's prone to some turnovers.

Xavier Sneed - 6'5" - 10.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.8 apg = Another below average three-point shooter. Shoots just 40% from the field. Not sure who we put on him. Mitch? Ronnie?

Kamau Stokes - 6'0" - 9.1 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.5 apg = Just a 36% shooter from the field. I'm guessing their main distributor. Equal to Mintz probably.

Cartier Diarra - 6'4" - 7.2 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 2.1 apg = Good three-point shooter at 40%.

I know I am missing some like Mawien, but just thought I'd throw some quick numbers out there.

Mitch probably played against Sneed in AAU.

Are we ever successful at speeding up a team that likes to play slow? Maybe Baylor in the first half at times, Providence and SH at home.

Listening to some sports talk radio in another state today, and they had one of those creepy Las Vegas “insiders” discussing NCAA tourney betting trends thus far. According to this upstanding young man, 97% of the action in the CU/KSU game has been put on Kansas State - the highest percentage for one team in the tourney. Yet the line isn’t moving from the 1.5 or 1 spread you see everywhere.

He went on to imply that since the line isn’t moving, Vegas doesn’t consider this “smart money” - which I think bodes well for the Jays. If a reincarnated Albert Einstein tells me one thing, and Las Vegas tells me something different, I’m believing LV - they are outstanding at their job.

Not sure if this is remotely meaningful, but I found it interesting.

Jays are probably not as good as our seed right now, but neither is K-State. They are 44 in KenPom, 46 in BPI, 41 in Sagarin, etc. We are in the 20s in all of them, so even if you assume a part of that is holdover from Martin, it's hard to get 20 spots out of that.
