DePaul is under NCAA investigation for violation of rules in the men's basketball program. So, allegedly, they cheated and still couldn't escape the cellar. Way to go, guys.

Didn't Tuggs Bowen show up for a game there when he was in his "evaluation" mode?

Yes, he visited for the Jays game IIRC.

Maybe that will be enough to allow them cover to clean house so the program can become relevant again at some point.

Was at that game. They showed him on the big screen. Nobody realized what was really going on

Isn't that a violation? I thought I had read somewhere that showing a recruit wasn't legal until after they sign an LOI.

Which came about when the Jays fans started chanting "We Want Tugs!"

Did we really just goad DePaul into a recruiting violation? That's hilarious.

NCAA Committee on Academics has officially recommended instant eligibility for transfers if the student-athlete has a GPA of 3.0 or higher -- no more redshirting unless their grades are below that threshold. Not clear what the final rule will look like, as there's some variations presented in their recommendations, but it's looking like some version of this will pass, and could be in effect by 2019.

This isn't quite free agency in collegiate sports, but it's something fairly close to it.
