This is absolutely totally true. Cox has previously been told he was officially the “head coach in waiting” and apparently would need to be bought out in order for RI to hire a head coach other than him. I don’t think RI is in the position to buy out Cox and hire Murphy, they would not have given Cox that contract without truly wanting him to be the next coach upon Hurley’s departure.

Greg should take the URI job. It’s a more reputable program than CU’s

If he is the Associate Head Coach, it would be a nice little bump for Murphy at RI.

No Miles should take the RI job, otherwise he will get fired at NU when he fails to make the NIT next year. Plus RI has a better football program than Nebraska!

Rhode Island made David Cox “head coach in waiting” when he was promoted to Associate Head Coach, per multiple sources. School would have to pay buyout if it went in another direction
