Coach Lusk

What does he bring to the table?

Recruiting in the region.

Stability of staff - not likely to get another HC opp any time soon.

It's a really interesting hire. He definitely brings head coaching experience.

lotta bench experience

recruiting the MW - particularly KC where we're obviously focusing (and replacing D Rock who covered KC/MW)

experience under Painter/Weber - so a defensive toughness background

good hire on paper - i like it

as an aside - recall watching him play in the IHSA tourney - he was a really good player - but never bounced back from a badly broken leg

Seems like a solid hire. HC experience, recruits similiar area to Devries.

Hmmmm. Can't say I am overwhelmed. In Mac I trust, I guess. I hope Coach knows something about him that doesn't appear on paper. I know it was MSU and all, but there have been several guys who have been much more successful there. He did have something started with Cuonzo before he left for TN. So maybe he's just one of those guys whose a better assistant than head coach.

This is where I am. I guess I'm in wait and see mode, but surprised we couldn't get someone better than a guy who just got canned in the Valley.

National pundits such as CJ Moore, who knows basketball, say it was a great hire. Good enough for me. Trained under some great defensive coaches. Mo St athletic dept is a mess. Wont hold that against him.

Very underwhelming hire. His Missouri State teams were not good at much, but for the most part, they were worse at defense than offense. Not a big-time recruiter, not someone who elevated his team above their talent level.

Mac's endorsement opening with the idea that he's known Lusk for 15 years doesn't exactly inspire confidence. We need a shot of energy and, to an extent, a new direction. This is doubling down on the same MVC-caliber ideas that have been holding us back.
