Pitino is certainly getting media coverage. I have seen 3 or 4 'headline' articles pop up on Microsoft/Google in the last month. He is going to make St John's a player in the conference. It keeps DePaul & Butler at the bottom most years. But what 2 will usually join them? Providence, Villanova, or... I worry if Mac doesn't last longer than Pitino, Cooley or Miller and we have to hire a new coach.

Pitino is not one to last long, ahem.

Bracketology currently has us as a 3 seed...playing in Omaha. Grain of salt on the seed, since it's May of course. But playing in Omaha is Lundardi's mistake, right? They don't put teams on their home court.

The "way too early Top 25" released today also has us at #16 with Trey Alexander returning. Interesting.

Not only not to last long, he is an old relic, will be 71 before the season starts. He has at most 4 years left. Mac is for sure going to outlast him. St. John’s is not going to be magically good this year. I don’t see even a .500 year the first year. Mike Anderson is a better coach than people gave him credit for.

I hope I'm wrong but I don't see Mac coaching more than 4 years.

I’d put a lot of money on Mac retiring in the next 3-4 years

I would take the under on that. I've heard whispers that he wants to be able to relax and watch Doug in the NBA while he can. I wouldn't be surprised if he's done within 2 years.

I heard that he entered the Coach's Portal on the down-low before the deadline.

Honestly, Doug may only have 2-3 years left in the NBA.

The one thing that could be interesting - is if Doug is interested in coaching....

I've never heard Doug express anything like that - but he's a hoophead from a basketball family - so it's not hard to picture it.

and i can think of a nice place for him to start a coaching career.

Absolutely love Doug, but I hope not. Too many examples of former star players not working out at their alma mater as coaches. It tears the fanbase apart and is hard to get rid of them if they flame out. Look at Ewing at Georgetown. It’s a different sport, but same situation with Frost at Nebraska. I’d rather avoid the chance of destroying the rep of one of our all time greats and let him retain legendary status forever. If we are going to do anything with Doug, let’s retire his number already.
"But I truly care about Creighton and the fans and what they've done for me the last three years. I want to give them one more year and take care of business in the Big East so we can prove people wrong.'' ---- Doug McDermott
