An interesting line in that story is that Pitino wants next year's homie with UConn to be in the Carnesecca phone booth. Perfect.
Exactly, they just want to get people riled up and get some clicks on their site
As for the calls in the game. I still think Pitino didn't complain because:
A. It's stupid to call out the refs and the league (and he needs to be given the option of dialing up a super physical game again in the future, and
B. He made a decision on how he wanted to play (based on how many open shots we got in the first half) and bet that the refs wouldn't call everything, and they didn't
and C: He was absolutely correct on what he was saying as well. Teams need to play through things and be good enough to win. We almost lost that game by blowing wide open 3' and then by missing FT's
Even with the foul disparity, there were more non-calls on fouls made by St. Johns than non-calls on fouls made by Creighton
20 fouls is pretty much their average in a competitive P5 game this year. They have gone as high as 30 vs. West Virginia
