We are competitive with NIL at the moment for two reasons: we had our ducks in line early, and the NIL endgame Hardwood speaks of was far off.

Well with each passing year it gets closer. We are going to have to participate in the arms race and even then we can’t win it.

The Universities are going to squeeze the corporate guys. Do think Calipari is getting any of that Walmart money? How many players do you think the Walmart Razorbacks can buy? What about the Nike Ducks?
Surely, the Exxon Longhorns can put together a decent roster of student athletes. Just sell your school name....like they do for stadiums and arenas. 20 year contract for the naming rights for your Union Pacific Bluejays. And you could change Billy Bluejay to a choo choo train. What a cluster.

I’ve said this a few times now.

You need an owner.

However I think our administration realizes that.

I mean, if we don’t have any billionaires willing, there’s nothing the admin can really do about it.

Who says we don’t?

It might take a few 9 figure people but it can be done.

Even if we can’t match the dozen or so teams that will have guys like the Vitamin Water guy at St John’s doesn’t mean we can’t be great, you can’t buy everyone.

Our goal should be to be near the top of tier 2 if you ask me.

Always take these "asking price" things with a grain of salt. Remember the rumors around Baylor when he transferred.

If a guy is only interested in going to the highest bidder, he's not going to end up at Creighton. Fortunately, there are a lot of players that will be available every offseason and many of them factor in more than just money as long as the money is still pretty good. Navigating all of this and understanding collective budgets and deciding who to prioritize is part of the job now and those that do it well will still have success, just like those that did a great job of evaluating talent and character and building relationships under the pre-NIL system.

Creighton won’t be a highest bidder not because of lack of resources but more likely because of culture and the value of having good vibes in the locker room.

I can't imagine Chucky would seriously consider Nebraska BB considering the classless treatment he received when playing at Pinnacle by their fans.

Skers just grabbed a point guard in the portal. Are they going to renege and kick that kid to the curb?

Michigan St, CU, maybe Louisville? Lots of scuttlebutt.
