I think we've gotten about as much as we can out of our Drop Coverage. I'd like to see us get some players that can defend 1v1 straight up.

With Kalk gone next year they will need to/likely will adjust the defense away from that

Hopefully Kalk is back because he's a stud, and not just on defense. But Mac can put together a successful defense with a small 5, like Bishop.

Agree. That 2021 team was pretty solid defensively (Kenpom 32) and while Kalkbrenner was playing he was only playing 13.8 minutes a game

One thing to think about is that Bishop had to expend a ton of energy to defend the way we did that year, so I can't imagine us having just 1 guy to play that small 5 spot (Bishop at his peak played 23.4 MPG for us, and Martin K the year prior played only 25.4 MPG)

William Kyle III would fit this mold perfectly. He is a bit bigger than CB (6’9 230 compared 6’7 220) and a better athlete (44 inch vert). Summit DPOY

Kalk is such a unicorn:
1. It’s rare to have a center that big
2. It’s even more rare to have a center that big who can run the floor
3. It’s really rare to have a center that big who can run the floor, play great defense and NOT foul
4. And can do it for 40 minutes.

Who could have imagined all that Kalk’s freshman year? Congratulations to Kalk on all the hard work to make that happen and the strength and conditioning guys for guiding him.

Although, I wish Mac would stop talking about how great Jeremy is because I worry that he will get poached.

Haven’t reached out to many but bigs and 2 guards/wings R-Us primarily as expected.

Creighton has reached out to Kyle. Not sure we have a chance with Kalk's decision looming. Kyle is definitely bigger than CB and a much better post defender. CB is probably a little more agile. That 44 inch vertical is just kind of pulled out of thin air though. Kid can jump out of the gym but his vertical aint 44 inches.
