Yes, he bled blue, the excitement was organic and his inflection infectious.

My favorite T.Scott line was always "Up and down!" ..... You didn't know if the refs literally called up-and-down or what the hell had just happened.

I like that approach from Dan Muller -- it's not going to help ISU Red get a H&H with a good power conference school, but that tweet will get a lot of play on ESPN and elsewhere as they discuss mid-major teams that got left out, and his fans and players (and probably fans of other MVC schools, too) will LOVE it. That tweet is like throwing red meat into a pack of wild dogs. "We're willing to play anyone, but they won't play us!"

Problem is, the days of power conference teams doing H&H's with mid-major teams are over, for the most part, with a few exceptions. And as some leagues move to 20 conference games, that will be even more true. 2-for-1's are increasingly rare too. It puts leagues like the MVC in a tough spot, but that's the reality of college basketball now.

I'd love to play an Illinois State or a Monmouth at home, but there is minimal to gain from going on the road to play those teams. They're just going to have to go visit power conference teams with no return game. Or if they can't get that, then place value on exempt tournaments. And if they can't get quality opponents in those, then don't lose to sub-par opponents like Illinois State did in the non-conference.

Where I do agree with some of the mid-major gripe on are teams like Michigan State getting a 9 seed. But I don't know who you throw out of the tournament to replace with Illinois State or a Monmouth. K-State? One bad 30-pt loss to OU and beat West Virginia, Ok State and Baylor twice. Not everybody can get in. They did expand the field, so that's more opportunity.

Maybe even more neutral site games/tournaments are the answer. Little four team weekend ones in St. Louis or KC to hookup two quality mid-majors with a Creighton or K-State.

Tough life of a mid major, got to do one and done at power teams school or gwt in a good tournament, both of which he didnt do...he can also do one and ones with top teams from a10, mwc, aac...

I do kind of feel bad for them BUT as he himself pointed out he didn't have a non-conference schedule loaded with teams from those conferences he listed yet he only went 8-4 against that schedule. As it was his non-conference schedule probably would have been good enough to get him in the tournament but he's probably got to go 10-2 against that type of schedule, not 8-4. Heck, as close as they apparently were to getting in he maybe only had to go 9-3 against that schedule which wouldn't necessarily be hitting it out of the park. They also needed to show better in the MVC championship game against Wichita State which was kind of a final analysis of how they might do in the tournament.
