Stupid obvious question

So one week from today if they have not declared for the NBA draft and signed with an agent their only options are college basketball or a foreign team?

No. I think they could still portal.

If memory serves, the portal closes 5/1.

While a part of me would really like to see the roster turn over fully and have reduced expectations with a younger rotation next year, there's only upside to running it back another year. I'm starting to see it as a legit possibility..

Want the best University marketing, fan appreciation, historic moment in recent (all-time?) history?

Press conference.
Kalk is returning.
Trey is returning.
Frankie and Chucky joining them.
All at the same table, with some gimmicky slogan behind them about unfinished business or taking the next step or the road to San Antonio.

Upcoming Final Four locations, per NCAA website, if you’re interesting in booking early: San Antonio (2025), Indy (2026), Detroit (2027), Las Vegas (2028), Indy again (2029), North Texas ??? (2030)

Ya so 4/27 if they have not declared its college or foreign pro leagues? Then if no portal declaration by 5/1 which is week from Wednesday they have to stay on their current team? So last year
Kaluma declared for the portal on 4/30?

The article says Coach Fran said Iowa was losing Iowa PG Tony Perkins because his NIL MV was $500,000, and Iowa didn't have the NIL funds to match. The author speculates Chuck's MV is about the same since Perkins and Chucky was similar in quality. If our budget is in the neighborhood of $2 million (or even $3 million), that is a lot of money wrapped up in a PG.

I have zero knowledge about how Iowa's NIL works, but I'm kinda surprised that it's not stacked

I think that Hawkeye beer and vodka that feed everything back to their collective is pretty brilliant. Why not buy that stuff for tailgates, parties etc if it's same level quality and price as college beer and vodka? I'd think that would be generating a ton of $$$. Does it all go to football?

Correct. After next Saturday (4/27), if they haven’t declared for the NBA Draft their only options are college — at CU or somewhere else — or overseas. After May 1, the portal is closed too, leaving their only options as CU or overseas if they’ve still not decided.

So they’re really on the clock now in other words. At some point in the next 10 days they’ll have to announce something about their intent.

I have heard that their men’s basketball NIL is terrible. Most everything goes to football or women’s basketball.

Does that make it more credible or less credible?
